Mornington Peninsula
Just one hour out of Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula is easily one of Australia’s most picturesque wine regions. If you are looking for a beautiful day and a fancy lunch, Mornington is for you. Unlike its more laid back northern neighbours, Mornington can be a bit uptight. If you are travelling with a group or four or more, we highly recommend you make bookings in advance or you risk being turned away.
In our opinion, Mornington produces Australia’s best Pinot Noir. If you love your Pinot, you’ll find ace drops in great abundance here. Mornington is also rightfully known for its Chardonnay, but don’t ignore what the region can do with Shiraz. Shiraz has been quietly flying under the radar some years now in Mornington, and a few wineries here have learned how to make it sing a special maritime climate song.
