Summary:

Founded in 1975, Main Ridge Estate was the first commercially licensed winery on the Mornington Peninsula.  40+ years later, the winery hasn’t grown much, but its stature certainly has!  with only 3 hectares, Main Ridge is essentially “tiny”.  Its adorably quaint and homey cellar door feels very much the part of “small winery”.  But those 45 year old vines and all that experience are producing some of the Peninsula’s best fruit and turning it into some of the best wines.  We find that whether or not Main Ridge’s wine reach “epic” status can vary between vintages, the wines are never short of great.  In all, it is a Mornington icon, a welcome relief from some of the snottier and haughtier tourist traps, and a “must visit” for anyone who wishes to truly understand the region.
