Tasmania is Australias coldest wine state. So cool is it, in fact, that some larger global wine companies have been buying land here in recent years to climate-proof their portfolios. As a cool climate state, Tasmania is best known for its sparkling wines (there are some outstanding ones here) and Pinot Noirs. But don’t overlook the Shiraz, Riesling, and Pinot Gris in particular this state can produce.
In general, wineries here are smaller and friendlier. Unlike some of the more commercial states and regions, most of the wineries of TAS will be genuinely glad you’ve come.
