In recent years, it seems we find fewer and fewer Yarra Pinots that really excite. But every once in awhile, you find one so heart-breakingly good that it reminds you why it’s still worth the hunting.
This Pinot has a firm, but oh so plush backbone, like the finest Italian mattress, which supports the long-winding ride of a stunning, beautifully textured cherry wave swirling around the palate. A cornucopia of light spices tingle and tickle the palate like so many stars shining in the night sky. Far off to the edges of this wine are the faintest hints of savouriness, gently conjuring to mind some Bavarian forest barely perceptible in the distance. It’s the impeccable texture and structure of this wine that renders all these flavours in such delicate balance possible… A miracle. So vibrant and alive. Warms the chest; warms the heart.
Score: 96/100 (drinking in 2023)
This wine will easily go another five years and we’d be mightily curious to try it again in two or three years.
