With initial plantings going back to 1969, Moss Wood is one of the founding estate’s of Margaret River.  Since that time, the place had established itself as a regional legend.  Producing only around 13,000 cases, you’ll be hard pressed to get your hands on much of the good stuff.  As you will see if you make an appointment for a tasting, they sell out rather quickly.  Half of what you’ll be trying is out of the barrel from a future release 🙂  The awards speak for themselves, James Halliday’s highest level of prestige for the winery, Ray Jordan’s highest ever score of 99/100 for a Cab Sav, etc etc.

A visit to Moss Wood is a must.  You have to book in advance and their is a small fee (all redeemable on any purchase), but the experience is one of a kind.  One of the Moss Wood winery hands will take you into the winery, then into the cellars where you can look at some really old stuff, and finally into a barrel/tasting room.  Friendly people, a most educational experience, world clas wine … what more could one ask for?
