Summary:
Leeuwin Estate is a magnificent winery whose cellar door, sadly, seems now more focused on lunch service than wine service these days. The pricey food is good, but the tasting experience has suffered. On a given day, you might expect tired or grumpy staff to greet you by asking for a tasting fee just after you finished your $100 lunch.
The above caveat aside, Leeuwin’s cellar door is large and stunning. And their wines are otherworldly, particularly the Chardonnays. We suppose their 2015 Chardonnay was the best MR Chardy we have had of that vintage (hence the $100+ price). We also rate the Art Series Cab Sav.
