Squitchy Lane is a tiny winery and cellar door in the Yarra.  It possesses 6 hectares of some of the Yarra’s older vines.  Squitchy produces Sauvignon Blanc/Fume, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and a Bordeaux Blend that also includes Cabernet Franc and Merlot.  Squitchy Lane’s wines are notable for a couple reasons.  1) They are all delightful and thoroughly satisfying.  Even though there is a deftness, a finesse, a polish to these wines, they all carry enough heft to please anyone.  2) There is a certain consistency of wonderful style across their entire range that we rarely ever find, and essentially only find at small cellar doors with small teams working on small plots of land.

Squitchy’s cellar door is humble, but the deck is lovely on a bright summer day.  The wine tasting experience depends on who happens to be about on the day (not open every day), but we’ve only ever enjoyed ourselves.  Squitchy Lane is a classic example of why you need unpaid wine and cellar door reviewers like us.  Too small to pay the $$ or ship enough cases to the big guys to afford a good review, but far too wonderful a winery for you the enthusiast to miss.
