Summary:
Seville Estate has undergone various dramatic transitions over the last few years, and we feel this unevenness is reflected in their wines. James Halliday awared Seville Estate “2019 Winery of the Year”, and while we feel Seville (and winemaker Dylan McMahon) show flashes of true genius (particularly with Chardonnay), we feel this award is premature. We’d like to see a few years of settled, consistent great winemaking from Seville yet. We know the potential is there.
We have never had anything but an impeccable tasting experience at Seville Estate. The guide is always informative and attentive. We highly recommend the Chardonnays here and find the Barber range (when available) to be exceptional value for the price. The Pinot Noirs are great, but we believe you can find equal for less.
All in, a must-stop in the Yarra.
