It is rare we recommend a place that started as recently as 2014 (and founded by a crazy (but passionate) business guy no less!). But Cloud 9 breaks all the rules. Alan, the founder, has no pedigree in wine to speak of. Furthermore, he has planted Shiraz and Cab Sav in a region with a climate best suited for Pinot Noir. Somehow, in spite of all of this, the wines are special. His Shiraz/Cab/Merlot and Horizon Shiraz/Cab are deep and complex but also immediately enjoyable. Then there is Cloud Nine’s stunning view. Alongside Hanging Rock’s view of Hanging Rock, this is the best we have seen in Macedon. And then there are the beautiful fresh cheeses Alan’s daughter is making. In a nutshell, you need to visit this place. We expect even greater things to come.
