The oldest winery extant in Bendigo, Balgownie Estate produces some of the region’s best wines!  In the right year, Balgownie’s Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon compete for Australia’s best.  The place is a must visit.   Unlike Balgownie’s Yarra Valley outpost, which can be a bit harried, we found the service in Bendigo to be exceptional (our hats off to Alan for an incredible tasting).  You cannot go to Bendigo and not visit Balgownie!
