Founded only in the 1990s, Bay of Fires has rightfully become one of Australia’s preeminent produces of sparkling wine (and for our money, they’re the all around best). Their “By Arras” $20 bottle of sparkling is one of the best in that category in the world.  BoF shines well beyond bubbles as well,  They have crafted the best TAS Chardonnay and one of the better TAS Rieslings we’ve ever tasted.  Their Pinot Noirs are also notable.

Bay of Fires vision is “to share Tasmania’s most outstanding wines with you. Their vision continues to rely on the search for the individual personalities found in every variety and vineyard.”  Remarkably for a winery that has achieved such scale, these words ring true to this date. We rarely, rarely ever find the best in larger wineries, but you won’t find more epic and epochal Tasmanian wines than Bay of Fires offers. Bubbles – #1. Whites – #1. These are elegant, sophisticated, impeccable wines. And what’s even more amazing, alongside producing such beautiful traditional wines, this large winery is very actively experimenting with new things. MUST VISIT.
