Alex Russell Wines (trading under the Alejandro label) is a specialist in “alternative” varietal wines. For some, “alternative” may read “sounds interesting to try once, but can’t be as good as a Shiraz.”  Those with such a limited vision will miss much!   Alex Russell is making serious wines that are better than most the Chardys and Shirazes you’ll find at the local.  These are deep and super-elegant wines you will want to return to again and again. We could not be more impressed with the character and consistency of elegance across these wines (which was a bit of a surprise considering the breadth of the range produced). We try many, many wines and can say this of few winemakers… There is some magic in Alex’s winemaking… (We did ask for the secret, but they’re playing mum 🙂  Should you be able to locate a bottle of their 2016 Vermentino or Saperavi, buy it (or let us know where we can).
