And while usually that would offput us, here, it just works. Everything at Samuel’s Gorge works. From the vintage espresso machines to the old industrial presses where wine bottles and glasses now stand to the immaculate lighting to the stunning view over the gorge – this place is like living in a gothic dreamscape; best enjoyed on a rainy afternoon.

And then there are the wines. Their are only four on regular tasting, and that is all you will need. Mindblowingly serious wines. The 2015 Mourvedre reached heights few other wines ever will. While we appreciate wineries that source all their fruit from their own vines, we appreciate even more when a master winemaker who adroitly sources what he needs from eight vineyards.
