No trip to the McLaren would be complete without paying in a visit to S.C. Pannell. While we frequently stear clear of highly-hyped cellar doors, Pannell’s praise is all well merited, his name hard-earned. It would be difficult to say enough of these wines. What we will say is that they are all unique and special. Pannell, perhaps more than anyone, has mastered the art of different, but only at the pinnacle of quality and balance. He is in many ways a forefather of the wonderful things happening in McLaren Vale today. His is a masterclass tasting. And while we were here for the wines, a shout out to the venue must be paid. Disneyland meets LA biker bar, but somehow in a tasteful way. The kind of place you feel special in. Must try wines: Aromatico, Tempranillo Touriga, GST.
