Oliver’s Taranga would be one of our top picks in McLaren Vale and perhaps the best stop for a great day of wine touring.  The place boasts a wide range of reliably excellent wines, some of which reach celestial heights. While all the wines here are masterfully balanced, many pop out in unique, unexpected, and altogether enchanting ways.  Oliver’s is trying new things and cooking up characterful wines in the process. Their mission statement “To produce ultra-premium age worthy wines that reflect the unique character of the Taranga Vineyard.” plus over a century of experience refining their craft really comes through in the end product.  Considering how amazing the wines are, the price is better than fair. 

OT also reliably offers one of the most enjoyable tasting experiences in the region.  Often people who also work at other vineyards in the region, the staff are professional, knowledgeable, engaging, and friendly.

At a point where we try to limit ourselves to buying one bottle per stop, the fact we can’t seem to ever leave here without six or more should tell you all you need to know.
