Fox Creek Wines – Really captures the best of McLaren Vale. Rustic cellar door is built into a 19th century cottage, but a look at the nearby winery tells you these folks are not afraid to embrace technology and innovation as well as tradition. It’s the kind of place that will help you understand that a bottle of wine is not about a grape, or a vineyard, or a vintage. It is the sum of a thousand small decisions winemakers have to make, often in the heat of the moment. The people here are great (thank you Rosalind and Coco for such a wonderful experience), and so is the wine. We particularly fancied their Grand Cuvee (perfectly buttery and creamy bubbles), the 2015 JSM Cab Sav / Franc (a beautiful Cab Sav all around), the 2016 Limited Release Grenache (perfect blackberry cobbler delicious), and the glorious Short Row Shiraz (a text book perfect McLaren Vale Shiraz). You really need to visit. A great experience all around.
