Summary:

Vineyard Road may be the new kid on the block in Langhorne Creek but is already a serious contender for the best wine stop. The elegant cellar door is the sleekest and most modern in the region – all polish, but nowhere pretentious. The people here are humble, warm, and funny. (We hope Janine does your tasting; she is so lovely!) And strange as it sounds, the portion of the space committed to the display of Vasse Virgin’s natural Australian olive oil skincare products (and the wonderful aromas coming therefrom) brings an air of tranquility to the affair. It’s a great space to find yourself with a glass of wine, and what great wine it is! With access to huge swathes of land, Vineyard Road has clearly mastered the art of fruit selection as well as winemaking. The entire range shares a certain polish and ripe fruit expression – the kind of consistency across a range seldom seen in wine. We could not get enough of the playful vanilla bubble gum Chardonnay; the INCREDIBLE Sangiovese, all breadth and polish (and the best AUS Sangiovese we’ve had this year), and all three Shirazes. The 2015 Reserve Shiraz (think dark chocolate and hints of dark forest with polish and length) at $19.50 is reason enough to visit Langhorne Creek all on its own. Vineyard Road is a hungry winery already producing exemplary drops; we expect even greater yet to come. You must visit.
