Summary:
Although the Thorn and Clarke families have been involved in wine and grape growing in the Barossa region for many generations, their hand at winemaking is relatively young. 2001 was their first vintage. You’d never guess it though, when you taste their exceptional range of wines. These wines exude character and restrained power. You must try their Shotfire Quartage, the best Bordeaux blend we have had from Barossa (and trust us, it’s a powerhouse Bordeaux blend). Thorn Clarke’s “entry level” Sandpiper range is also exceptional. At $20 each, the Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Grenache are some of the most exceptional values in the region. The staff here are friendly and knowledgeable. In short, a fabulous stop not to be missed!
