Summary:

Hahndorf Hill Winery is a little bit of a step back in time. Though the Gruner Veltliner grape (for which Hahndorf is most famous) is Austrian, we couldn’t help feeling that we had somehow landed in 19th century Bavaria, where we were attended by motherly and knowing hosts. Hahndorf Hill is stuck in old world tradition to our good benefit! Every wine here is good. If you appreciate their stylistic take on winemaking, they are epic. Most notable for us were the Sav Blanc, the Blaufrankisch, and of course, the Gruner Veltliner.

While Hahndorf appears old world on the surface, don’t be fooled.  Biodynamic vineyard practices, carbon offset, and so on … HH is clearly a conscious global citizen with a foot in the past but an eye on the future.
