With their colourful labels, quirky way of writing, and seriously aged wines, Blowfly may be Australia’s most unique winery. But don’t let the place’s unconventional approach deceive you. Blowfly crafts some very serious wines – some of Australia’s most distinct to be certain. While we would class Blowfly’s 2007 Shiraz as a veritable wine epoch – powerful, commanding & regal – the 2005 and moreso the 2006 are special in their own rights. In addition to Shiraz, Blowfly produces one of the few Chambourcins you will find in Australia (if you search hard). And what a winner the 2005 is, somewhere between an Aglianico and Petit Verdot, but on steroids. Not much tannin to speak of, but the wine cries out for French cuisine all the same. You really must try it.
In short, Blowfly equals unique, aged, wine treasure (at superb prices!) We love the place and trust you will as well.
