Summary:

2023 Update – While the grounds are as glorious as ever and there are still some great wine here, we feel Rymill has lost its focus a little over the last five years.  The range is now huge, which means the tasting is constrained, which in turn means you’ll miss some of the stuff most worth tasting.  Also, it’s hard to make truly special single wines when you make so many…

2018 Review:
What a glorious winery! The cellar door is stunning, the service is great, and the wines have reached celestial levels. We are almost prepared to label Rymill the best House of Red going in the region in 2018 (based on a combination of height and consistency of quality as well as breadth of styles on offer). If you only drink reds and could only make one stop in Coonawarra (which would be a horrible shame), this must be it. A stop here will quickly prove that Coonawarra can do just as well with Shiraz as it does Cabernet Sauvignon, and gosh these guys know how to do Cab Sav. Drink now and cellaring styles across both these varietals, all wonderful. Can’t wait to go back. Don’t be distracted by the polish and pizzazz of the cool cellar door; focus on the superb wines.
