Parker Coonawarra Estate is a glorious way to start or end your day in Coonawarra. While the cellar door is beautiful (all modern and open with clean finishes and angles, but the giant tree out front seems to anchor the place in craft and tradition), the place above all exudes passion for the winemaking craft. Dedication and laser focus on producing the best possible the region can achieve pays off handily. You can expect a flight of outstanding reds here, and while the stunning Cab Savs feature prominently, we were quite impressed with the Super Luigi (Sangiovese/CS blend) and Cab Malbec. And whilst Coonawarra’s potential for producing extraordinary Shiraz was our biggest revelation of 2018, Parker’s Terra Rossa Merlot single-handedly proves the region can achieve soaring heights with that varietal as well.
